Biomed Students Visit Chief Medical Examiner's NYC Office
On Thursday, September 18th, Ms. Lamarque (accompanied by Mr. Foley) took a group of her Biomed students to the NYC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for National Forensic Science Week.
They participated in a full day of activities, including a presentation from a crime scene expert who guided them through a case using his expertise in ballistics, followed by interactive experiences. They visited a mock crime scene and learned about the role of an Investigator. They wore protective equipment as they took on the role of a medical examiner, interacted with various demonstration tables including, toxicology, DNA analysis and bone structure and finally got to see inside an official Special Ops Truck.
Our Biomed students received a unique opportunity to see firsthand the challenging responsibilities of a medical examiner and the valuable role that they provide for NYC!
