Biomed Visits Chief Medical Examiner's Office

Ms. Lamarque recently took a group of her Biomed students to the NYC Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for National Forensic Science Week.

Accompanied by Ms. Taheerah, they participated in a full day of activities, including a presentation from various crime scene experts who guided them through their expertise in documenting a crime scene, followed by interactive experiences. They visited a mock crime scene and learned about the role of an Investigator, a medical examiner and interacted with various demonstration tables including, toxicology and bone structure. 

Students also went on a tour where they got to see inside an official Special Ops Truck, visit the Operations Center, and the DNA Amplification and Electrophoresis lab.

Our Biomed students received a unique opportunity to see firsthand the challenging responsibilities of a medical examiner and the valuable role that they provide for NYC!
