Filled with Joy at 1st BMD Legacy Brunch
We celebrated our first Bishop McDonnell Legacy Brunch on Saturday, April 13th, at 260 Eastern Parkway.
Was it unseasonably cold? Did the bus break down? Was parking limited? Yes, yes and yes.
However, every time Bishop's girls meet, it is a joy. This year was no different.
We are grateful to the Bishop McDonnell committee who puts in all of the hard work each and every year:
Kathy Carney DeVito '62
Mary Collins Macchiarola '58
Stephanie Cyrus BMcD '73 BL '75
Catherine Diehl Palladino '60
Margie Dougherty Russo '69
Bobbi Eisenberg '58
Mary Ellen Lavelle Murphy '59
Lizz Manning Mancini '67 (LI Bus Coordinator)
Kathy McCarthy '58
Phyllis Murphy Howell '67 (recipient of the Bishop Loughlin Lionheart)
Maryann Stahl DeMaso '60 (Mistress of Ceremonies)
This year we were very proud to present the Lionheart Award to Phyllis Murphy Howell '67. Phyllis has been a leader of the committee for 17 years (since the very beginning). Phyllis has spearheaded many efforts over the years. One of them was to "write the book!" Her book titled Memorial, Memorial - The History of Bishop McDonnell Memorial High School was published in and is still available for those who are interested in a copy (please contact Phyllis directly or Josie McKenna). It is not uncommon for Phyllis to call every one of her classmates before an event and perhaps a few more classes for good measure. She has worked tirelessly and we are eternally grateful.
As a result of her work and the work of the committee members, Bishop's girls contribute more than $100,000 each year supporting Bishop McDonnell Scholars:
Eva Archer ‘24
Summer Bynum ‘26
Elizabeth Charles ‘25
Katelyn Estaphane ‘24
Daphne Gayot ‘25
Shariya Junior ‘25
Madison Monplaisir ‘24
Samantha Nerelus ‘25
Joli Pierre ‘25

Kayla Harrison ‘26
