Loughlinites Participate in 'Future Leaders in Science' Symposium
On Friday, 5/2, six students from Ms. Lamarque's Biomedical Science class (accompanied by Mr. Santiago) participated in NY Blood Center's Future Leaders in Science Symposium.
Scientists from the Blood Center presented their cutting-edge research on sickle cell anemia, stem cells and blood parasites. The students toured the labs and saw the actual research tools in action, and they were able to try out some of the tools themselves. After the many Blood Drives that Ms. Madar and the National Honor Society have organized, it was an eye-opener to see how donated blood can be used for so many different purposes!
