St. Thomas More Pathway to Law Students Welcome Guest Speakers
Students in our St. Thomas More Pathway to Law Program welcomed two distinguished guest speakers on March 6, 2026: Hon. Bianka Perez, Justice of the New York State Supreme Court, Bronx County Civil Division, and Dejon St. Rose-Cuffy, Esq., a member of Bishop Loughlin’s Class of 2017.
Justice Perez shared her journey to the bench and spoke about the dedication, perseverance, and community support that helped shape her career in law. Elected to the New York State Supreme Court in 2020, she previously served as a Civil Court Judge in Bronx County and continues to mentor future legal professionals as an Adjunct Professor of Criminal Justice at Monroe College.
Mr. St. Rose-Cuffy (featured below) reflected on his time at Bishop Loughlin and discussed how the school helped prepare him for college, law school, and his legal career. He currently serves as a law clerk in Justice Perez’s court. He encouraged students to stay focused on their goals and take advantage of opportunities that support their academic and professional growth.

Following the presentations, students participated in a question-and-answer session and later shared lunch with the speakers, continuing the conversation in a more informal setting.
Events such as this exemplify the mission of the St. Thomas More Pathway to Law Program at Bishop Loughlin —to provide students with meaningful exposure to legal professionals, mentorship opportunities, and guidance as they explore potential careers in law and public service. Through experiences like these, students gain valuable insight into the legal profession while being inspired by individuals who demonstrate leadership, integrity, and a commitment to justice.
