Track Stars Shine Bright

On Saturday, December 13, our Track & Field varsity girls’ and boys’ 4x400‑meter relay teams struck gold at the Nassau Coaches Invitational, held at the Ocean Breeze Sports Complex in Staten Island.

The girls’ championship squad featured Senior Tomi Olusanya, Junior Jada Elcock, Senior Moriah Walker, and Junior Najea Smith (thumbnail).

On the boys’ side (below), the winning team included Senior Deronne Softley, Senior Matthew Simon, Senior Austin Morris, and Sophomore Caiden Romeo.

Just one week earlier, at the Staten Island High School Track & Field Relays, our Lions delivered another standout performance—bringing home a meet record, the fastest time in New York, and 21 total medals: four gold, eleven silver, and six bronze.

A special shout‑out to our varsity girls’ 4x200‑meter relay team—Senior Tomi Olusanya, Freshman Kiersten Haggins, Sophomore Morgan Bass, and Freshman Promise Terry—for setting a new meet record and earning the #1 ranking in New York (recently updated to #3). That's right, two 9th graders and a 10th grader helped set a new meet record!
