Bishop Loughlin
Thank you for taking a moment to visit the Loughlin alumni page!
Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School is named in honor of the first Bishop of Brooklyn, John Loughlin (1853-1891). For more on our institution's history, please read more (link). We are extremely proud of our rich history and tradition. We were St. James Academy on Jay Street from 1851 to 1926. We were renamed St. James Diocesan High School at the request of Bishop Molloy for a brief period from 1926 to 1933.
Soon after, the Christian Brothers and students transferred to Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School. We have now been a part of the Ft. Greene and Clinton Hill community for more than 90 years. Through the decades, Loughlin has been a bedrock of Catholic education in Brooklyn.
Countless alumni have made their mark in Brooklyn, NYC, the United States, and throughout the world. Some have even become famous:
Notable Alumni
Famous or not, our alumni are our greatest asset and proof that we have been and are the best high school in Brooklyn!
In fact, more than 25,000 alumni have walked the stage over the decades, succeeding in every career imaginable. Fortunately, many alumni support their alma mater. More than 2,000 Loughlin alumni support the school each year (others from St. Augustine, Bishop McDonnell, and other friends also contribute). These funds support scholarships, capital improvements, program development, and the annual fund. Alumni support makes a Loughlin education possible today for hundreds of young men and women.
You are always welcome to visit Loughlin for one of our many events or to stop by. For more information, please contact Ms. Tanya (Curbin) Kennedy '02, Office of Institutional Advancement, at 718-857-2700 ext 2250.
